Hypocrisy in evidence

Sarah Huckabee got a taste of what it's like to be denied services for who she is just as the gay couple was made to feel for simply wanting to order a wedding cake for their legal wedding. Or a Muslim elderly couple who can't come visit their adult children here, the latter having been American citizens for decades.

That said, if it were my restaurant, even though I don't align with Huckabee religiously, ethically or politically, I would offer her and her guests the best service possible as any good business owner would. I'd even throw in a round of cocktails. Why would one deny someone services to someone because of who they are? Black, white, gay, Muslim, even Trump appointees should be welcome, their money all spends the same.

The only time I'd send someone out the door would be if their behavior were inappropriate. For example, someone who's had too much to drink, swearing and talking loud while other patrons are trying to enjoy a meal with their spouses and children. Someone very wise recently told me, "All people are welcome. All behaviors are not."

Sadly, the same standard isn't applied to all citizens evenhandedly, especially in these dark times where people push their agenda under the guise of patriotism and religion. Hypocrisy runs wild. Hopefully things will get better. I pray for our nation.
