MHS junior takes second place in business leaders competition

Mundelein High School Junior MacKenzie Stewart earned second place in the Business Law event at the recent Future Business Leaders of America National Competition in Baltimore, Maryland.

"Her hard work paid off," said FBLA adviser Chris Hoster. "She spent many hours studying technical terms and concepts to prepare for the competition. It takes a lot of discipline and focus to earn second place in a challenging subject like Business Law."

Stewart competed against more than 150 other students from across the country and beyond.

At the national competition, students compete in a variety of business and career-related subjects, attend leadership sessions, network with other students and professionals, and, of course, explore the cities of Baltimore and Washington, D.C., Hoster explained.

"It was really exciting for all of us to see her on stage, especially when they count down the winners from 10 to 1," said FBLA adviser Sarah Menas. "It really made the end of the conference exciting for all of us."

Mundelein High School FBLA also won third place in Top Fundraising for the March of Dimes by donating more than $9,000 to the organization during the school year.
