Domestic violence sends 1 to hospital in Des Plaines

Des Plaines police were investigating a domestic violence incident Wednesday that left one person injured, authorities said.

Officers responded about 9 a.m. to a residence near the intersection of Washington Street and Laurel Avenue, police said.

The altercation occurred between a man and woman, and one person was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Cmdr. Christopher Mierzwa said.

Mierzwa declined to specify the type of injury or which person was taken to the hospital, though he did say the incident was not related to drugs or gang activity.

"There is absolutely no danger to the community," Mierzwa said. "The two individuals involved in this incident know each other."
