Earlham College's 18th president stepping down after 1 year
RICHMOND, Ind. (AP) - Earlham College's 18th president is stepping down after about a year at his post at the liberal arts school.
The Palladium-Item reports the school in eastern Indiana announced Wednesday that Alan Price is resigning effective July 31. Longtime Earlham faculty member Avis Stewart is expected to assume the post on an interim basis ahead of a search for a replacement.
Price says in a statement the decision came after "careful deliberation." He says he decided "this is the best way forward at this time."
Price majored in economics at Earlham, graduating in 1988, and graduated from Harvard Law School in 1992. Price was announced as Earlham's president in December 2016 and took over the post July 1, 2017. The school says Price will assist with the transition to new leadership.
