Man sets fires at western Indiana parole office; no injuries

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say a man used a portable weed sprayer full of flammable liquid to set fires inside multiple offices of a parole office in western Indiana.

Arson investigator Norm Loudermilk of the Terre Haute Fire Department tells the Tribune-Star that surveillance video shows the man use a pry bar to open a locked public access door at the Vigo County Community Corrections building early Wednesday.

Minutes later, fire alarms sounded. Loudermilk says multiple offices were sprayed with the accelerant, then set ablaze. No one was injured.

The newspaper says about 60 people were evacuated from the building, which houses a work release center.

The building sprinkler system suppressed the fire, but the building sustained smoke and water damage. Authorities say the man was dressed in black and wearing a face mask.
