The Commodores, Kool & the Gang perform at Grand Victoria 4th of July celebration

Grand Victoria Casino's Fourth of July Celebration will feature Kool & the Gang and The Commodores.

The gates open at 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, with the show starting at 7 p.m. at Festival Park, 132 S. Grove Ave. in downtown Elgin. It will be held rain or shine.

The Grammy-nominated Commodores are celebrating 50 years since their start in Tuskegee, Alabama. Their current lineup includes original members William "WAK" King, Walter Orange, and James Dean "J.D." Nicholas, backed by the "Mean Machine". Be a "Fancy Dancer" with The Commodores when they perform "Brick House," "Easy," "Three Times A Lady," and many more.

R & B and funk powerhouse Kool & The Gang hits Festival Park in Elgin this Independence Day! "Get Down On It" with original members Robert "Kool" Bell, Ronald Bell, George Brown, and Dennis Thomas as they perform their hits "Celebration," "Summer Madness," "Jungle Boogie" and more.

Advance ticket prices are $35-$75 or $38-$78 on the day-of; additional fees apply.

Fireworks will start immediately after the concert ends.

Many downtown streets will close at various times to vehicular traffic over the holiday weekend to allow for a safe and enjoyable experience as the community celebrates Independence Day.

Absolutely no coolers, outside alcohol or animals will be allowed at Festival Park for the concert and fireworks on Wednesday, July 4.

There will be food and drink options as well as alcoholic and nonalcoholic drink options available at Festival Park. Guests will need to show ID and obtain a wristband upon entry in order to purchase and consume alcoholic beverages. There are also four dining options within the casino pavilion.

Bring a blankets or lawn chairs. No pets are allowed in the park.
