The Cary Elementary District 26 school board seeks candidates to fill a vacancy after trustee Ben Washow recently stepped down.

He submitted his resignation last Friday due to his appointment to the McHenry County Conservation District Board. By law, the school board must appoint a replacement within 45 days from the resignation.

Interested applicants must be U.S. citizens, 18 or older, a district resident for at least one year and a registered voter. The appointee will serve through the April election.

Candidates should send a letter of interest and resume/qualifications to Superintendent Brian Coleman at the District 26 Administrative Center, 2115 Crystal Lake Road, Cary, 60013 or email the documents to brian.coleman@cary26.org.

Applications must be received by July 13.
