District 57 approves replacing Lincoln School AC equipment

The Mount Prospect Elementary District 57 board has approved replacing two chillers that provide air conditioning to most of the Lincoln Middle School building after the 28-year-old chillers began to fail during the last full week of school.

Once it became apparent that the equipment could not be repaired, district officials obtained quotes for new chillers, the control system and installation that the board approved at a cost not to exceed $175,000.

"While it is unfortunate to have to undertake an emergency project like this, we're thankful this purchase is something we anticipated and have planned for," Superintendent Elaine Aumiller said in a news release.

Aumiller also announced at last week's board meeting that District 57 has won a 2018 Golden Achievement Award in Recognition of Exemplary Public Relations from the National School Public Relations Association for its work in "Educating and Engaging the District 57 Community in Preparation for the Tax Referendum Vote."
