Bartlett man charged with drug, weapons crimes
DuPage County prosecutors have charged a 19-year-old Bartlett man with multiple felony and misdemeanor drug and weapons offenses after police served a search warrant for his home on Friday.
Lucas R. Benjamin, of the 800 block of Seacrest Lane, faces felony charges of defacing identification marks of firearms, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of cannabis with the intent to deliver, and misdemeanor allegation of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of firearm ammunition without a Firearm Owner's Identification card, police said.
Bartlett police served the warrant at 4:50 a.m. Friday after an investigation into alleged illegal drug activity at the home.
Officers seized a Taurus .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun, ammunition, cannabis and drug paraphernalia in Benjamin's possession, police said.
A $20,000 bail was set for Benjamin. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 17.
