Gjovik Chevrolet celebrates 50 years

Gjovik Chevrolet Buick GMC in Sandwich opened its doors in 1968 and dealer principal Olaf Gjovik has been there since. In honor of the dealership's 50-year anniversary, Gjovik hosted a celebration June 8 and Gjovik's family came from all over the country to be there.

Gjovik said he still sells some of the same models that he sold in 1968. These models include the Chevrolet Silverado, the Chevy Suburban and the Chevy Impala. When he opened the dealership, gas was priced at only 34 cents a gallon.

Gjovik said his team helped lead the way to this 50-year milestone. This team includes Kris Mieszala, controller, who has been with Gjovik for 26 years, and Nick Oeser, general manager, with 13 years of service. Fred Squillo is the executive manager of the dealership, 2780 E. Church St.
