Honorable motives faded from fight for equality

As a black person, I am disturbed by what I read these days in regards to the public image of blacks in America. I remember a little over 50 years ago that it was a great time to be black in America.

We were moving on up.

Back then our cause was a godly cause. Hard-working and honest black citizens were marching for equal rights under the law. Our fellow citizens of all races had compassion and understanding in regards to citizens of a different race desiring equality in the areas of: Equal Employment Opportunities, Fair Housing Practices and enforcement of the Voting Rights Act.

These days, it is not such a great time to be black in America. We are losing favor with our fellow citizens. Currently our cause is not a godly cause. Some black groups are demanding special treatment under the law.

Our fellow citizens of all races distrust us, dislike us and have little respect for our questionable demands such as the right to sit in coffee shops and not have to buy anything, the right for black millionaire athletes to protest while on the job and the right to be treated with respect while in the process of breaking the law.

Honorable motives have been removed from the black fight for equality. And as a result, our cause is no longer a noble cause. It looks more like a scam.

I think that it is time for a new public image for us blacks. May I suggest an image that is a little more pleasing to God?
