WTTW nutrition tour to stop in Carol Stream

The WTTW Kids Fun Food Fest tour will stop this week in Carol Stream, bringing parents nutrition information along with family fun from the Public Broadcasting System station.

Designed to build upon the 10-year success of the WTTW Kids Great Food Fan Van, the nutrition outreach tour will feature all-new entertainment from local artists including Laura Doherty, Tricia Sebastian, Miss Jamie from the Farm and Istvan and His Imaginary Band, as well as new food partners and a new format including singalongs to well-known PBS Kids theme songs.

The WTTW Kids Fun Food Fest educates parents, grandparents, caregivers and children about proper nutrition and delivers the message in an interactive, two-hour performance that includes singing, dancing, healthy food sampling, and one-on-one nutritional guidance and education.

The tour stops from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, June 20, at Angelo Caputo's Fresh Market, 520 E. North Ave., Carol Stream.

Additional stops include Caputo's in Addison on Thursday, June 21; Mariano's in Lombard on Tuesday, June 26; and Mariano's in Naperville on July 3.

The event takes place near the entrance of the store within the WTTW Kids Village, which has a stage area, sampling canopies and a learning tent. PBS Kids' character Curious George will make an appearance.

Like the former WTTW Kids Great Food Fan Van program, the new WTTW Kids Fun Food Fest tour is a retail-based traveling nutrition event that serves approximately 10,000 parents and children each summer.

Food partners include Organic Valley and Organic Prairie, Traditional Medicinals, Lifeway Kefir, and Path of Life. Additional support is provided by Physicians Immediate Care. In kind support provided by Children's Clinic and Konica Minolta.
