Boy rescued from burning Indiana house; 3 officers hurt
ANGLOA, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say three police officers were hurt while trying to rescue a 3-year-old boy from a burning house in northeastern Indiana.
Angola Fire Department spokesman TR Hagerty tells WANE-TV that firefighters found the boy in a bedroom early Thursday. The boy was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital, but Hagerty didn't immediately know the boy's condition.
Emergency crews rushed to the house in rural Steuben County about 12:30 a.m. for the reported fire with a child trapped inside. Hagerty says the house had heavy fire throughout when firefighters arrived and that the boy was found in a smoke-filled room.
State police say a Steuben County deputy was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital, while a state trooper and an Angola officer were treated and released. All suffered from smoke inhalation.
