No one is above the law
The Justice Department seemed pretty clear on the ability of the president to pardon himself when Richard Nixon was in office: "Under the fundamental rule that no one may be a judge in his own case, the President cannot pardon himself." When Donald Trump is saying that he has the power to pardon himself, he is saying that he does not want to be president; instead, he wants to be dictator. His claim should give Americans who believe in the idea that no one is above the law a very sick feeling. Please call your senators and your representative and ask them what they will do if Trump pardons himself.
