Gardeners can draw inspiration at Idea Garden open houses

Gardeners can skip the apps and websites, and draw their inspiration in-person at the during summer open houses at the Kane County Master Gardener Idea Garden in St. Charles.

The Master Gardeners will host three summer open house events, beginning Tuesday, June 12.

"The 2018 Idea Garden continues to showcase designs that are easy to replicate at home, but with some new featured ideas," said Sarah Fellerer, program coordinator for University of Illinois Extension.

"Come see what plants work well in a moon garden or 'easy peasy' plot, and check out unique combinations of flowers, natives, herbs and vegetables in several creative themes, such as the seed savers project and the pollinator pocket. The Master Gardeners also have a corn house, an insect condominium and more."

The open houses will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays, June 12 and July 24, and Saturday, Aug. 25. Visitors also are welcome to stop in during Master Gardener work days from 9 to 11 a.m. on other Tuesdays.

The Kane County Master Gardener Idea Garden is at 3480 Route 38, at the intersection with Peck Road in St. Charles. Visitors can enter via the Route 38 driveway.
