Elmhurst performing arts group celebrates Spring Fling

The Elmhurst Centre for Performing Arts will hold its third annual Spring Fling on Wednesday, June 13, to celebrate the arts and support the communitywide effort to create a vibrant theater complex in Elmhurst City Centre.

The Fling, which runs from 7 to 10 p.m. at 100 South Chop House and Grill, 100 S. York Road, will feature a wine tasting, food and entertainment by singer/songwriter Madds Buckley.

Proceeds will benefit the ECPA, which was formed with the goal of building a center for music, theater, dance and comedy in downtown Elmhurst. It is an opportunity for those in Elmhurst and surrounding communities to connect around their interest in the performing arts.

Buckley is York High School's 2018 Lois Hammerschmidt medal recipient as the outstanding student in the performing arts department.

She has released two albums, "Too Afraid To Say It" in 2017 and "The Strings That Tie Us Together" this year. Her single "Little Something" won top prize at the 2018 Illinois Music Educators Association composition contest in the pop/commercial category, and she was selected as the closing performance at the association's annual meeting at the Peoria Civic Center.

She will be attending Berklee College of Music this fall on scholarship to study songwriting and vocal performance.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. For details, visit www.ecpa-elmhurst.org/upcoming-events/.
