Christ the Lord Lutheran to join in Fox Valley area's first Pride Parade

Several members from Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, 14N462 Tina Trail in Elgin, will be marching in the first Pride Parade scheduled for Sunday, June 17, in Aurora.

The event kicks off at noon in downtown Aurora.

Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, has been a Reconciling in Christ congregation since 2005. Reconciling in Christ churches extend a special welcome to the LGBTQ+ community. In 2009, the Evangelical Church of America passed policy resolutions that opened the way for persons in same-gender relationships be rostered leaders in the mainline Protestant denomination.

The Rev. Keith Fry, a gay partnered man, was then called to serve the Christ the Lord congregation. Fry has since accepted a call to a different area church. In November 2017, the Elgin church called the Rev. Philip Trzynka, a gay married man, to serve as their pastor.

The church offers Sunday worship at 9:30 a.m. Visit ctlelgin.org or www.facebook.com/ctlelgin/.
