Former Vigo County commissioner faces new charges
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) - A former Vigo County commissioner was charged with drug possession and domestic violence.
The Terre Haute Tribune-Star reports David W. Decker made an appearance in Vigo Superior Court on Friday. He is charged with possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of paraphernalia, invasion of privacy and domestic battery.
Defense attorney Joseph Etling waived formal reading of the charges and requested a not guilty plea for Decker. The 62-year-old was arrested Monday and was booked into the Vigo County Jail on $10,000 cash bond.
Decker previously served a five month sentence in federal prison in 2009 after pleading guilty to distribution of a mixture or substance containing methamphetamine.
Decker became a county commissioner in 2007 and resigned board president after his 2009 arrest.
