Citizens Academy gave him greater appreciation for police

I recently completed the Citizens Police Academy sponsored by the Arlington Heights Police Department and cannot express how this program has enhanced my perspective and understanding of our local police force.

Coming from family who are in law enforcement I had a general knowledge of how police departments operate but nothing compared to what our class experienced during the 12-week program.

Through the efforts of coordinating Officer Carrie Regilio, the detectives, patrol officers, police dog unit and others who gave of their time, I can honestly say Arlington Heights has the finest and most dedicated men and women to protect and serve our village.

From patrol operations, pursuits, forensics, street gangs, M.C.A.T., financial crimes, just to name a few topics, these men and women have committed themselves to our safety and keeping our community protected, and they need all the support we can provide.

I personally cannot thank them enough for the countless hours and dedication to that service.

Again, I can't stress enough how much this program has benefited my understanding of police work and what goes on behind the badge. I highly recommend this program to every resident of Arlington Heights.

I would like to thank Chief Gerald Mourning and the entire Arlington Heights Police Department for their service to our community.

Next time you see one these officers on the street, stop and shake their hand and say "Thank you." They deserve it.
