Gilberts Community Days opens June 1 with music and fun
The annual Gilberts Community Days will open from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, June 1, at Towne Centre Park, Route 72 and Center Drive.
New this year is the Community Days Business Expo with local businesses and community groups presenting their products and services from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Friday's musical lineup will be Doobie Brothers tribute band China Grove at 6 p.m. and the Beatles tribute band American English at 8 p.m.
The fest continues noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 2; and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 3.
On Saturday, the Chicago-based blues band Dairyland Aces performs at noon, The Belvederes, a rock band from Bartlett, at 2 p.m., classic rock cover band ARRA at 4 p.m., Petty Kings, a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers tribute band, at 6 p.m., and 97 Nine, classic rock cover band, at 8 p.m.
On Sunday, Street Corner Blue will perform traditional R&B at noon, and The Lennys, an energetic rock band, will perform at 2 p.m. Modern Day Romeos will close out the fest starting at 4 p.m. with Motown, classic rock, metal anthems and the top hits of the 2000s.
Enjoy carnival rides, food, children's activities, petting zoo, puppet show, and magic show.
The car show will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, with registration from 9 to 11 a.m.
A & A Attractions carnival rides will be all three days.
The free petting zoo, children's crafts and activity tent from noon-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. John's Measner's Magic Truck will be on site from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.
From 6 to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, there is a designated parking area with free shuttle service. Admission is free; there is a $2 wristband for alcohol for those 21 or older. Visit www.gilbertscommunitydays.com.
