Indiana woman gets 13 years for abusing 3-month-old infant

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - A Lafayette woman has been sentenced to 13 years in prison after admitting to abusing her 3-month-old infant.

Nineteen-year-old Danielle Nichole Hunt was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty in March to three counts of battery with serious bodily injury to a person younger than 14 and one count of neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury.

The Journal & Courier reports Hunt will face two years in community corrections following her release and four years of probation.

Her then 3-month-old child was hospitalized in Indianapolis March 2017 for facial burns and for several fractured bones that were healing.

Hunt acknowledged abusing the child, including holding the youngster underneath a hot shower to clean the infant after his dirty diaper leaked.
