Trump's successes not measured in approval ratings

With the recent withdrawals from the Paris climate accord and the Iran nuclear agreement, President Barack Obama's legacy is left in shambles.

About the only 'accomplishment' still on life support is the Affordable Care Act known fondly by the left as Obamacare, which remains stubbornly unpopular. With the near annihilation of ISIS; tax reduction; release of hostages and potential nuclear disarmament in North Korea; a booming stock market and economy; and a historic reduction of minority unemployment, the left is virtually in a state of collective depression.

Nothing seems to be working negatively for them as they have warned when Donald Trump was elected. But they are holding on hopefully to a fantasy of Russian collusion, which they promise will prove that the election was rigged.

Meanwhile, the country seems to be doing well, Stormy Daniels not withstanding, and Trump has only been a resident in the White House for 18 months. According to recent polls, a majority of the population is feeling good about the condition of the country.

Yet Trump's approval rating remains stubbornly at 40 percent which is similar to President Reagan's popularity at the same time in his presidency.

Of course we all know what happened in his two terms. Iran surrendered our hostages, the economy boomed as inflation crumbled and along with it, the Berlin Wall, and we all talked about a 'peace dividend' with the end of the 'cold war' and demise of the Soviet Union.

Let us hope that we may be entering a new age of peace and prosperity with the leadership of our unlikely and currently unpopular president.

Obama proved that popularity has little to do with lasting accomplishment.

And Trump is proving that there is little correlation between popularity and success.
