Wheeling District 21's London named top middle school

London Middle School in Wheeling has again been named an Illinois Horizon School to Watch by the Association of Illinois Middle-Grade Schools.

The designation recognizes schools for their academic excellence, developmental responsiveness, social equity, and sound organizational structures and processes that support excellence, officials said.

In the award letter, evaluators cited they were "very impressed with the degree to which (London) has fulfilled the criteria of the program."

The school, part of Wheeling Township Elementary District 21, is one of 22 schools in Illinois to receive the distinction and among about 400 nationwide.
