Softball: Koshy, Grayslake Central sweep Vernon Hills

Grayslake Central sweeps: Grayslake Central swept a doubleheader against Vernon Hills, winning 11-5 in the first game and 6-5 in the second.

In the first game, the two teams combined for 6 home runs, four by Grayslake Central.

Central got 2 home runs from Elisa Koshy and one home run each from Morgan Smigielski and Brooke Heraty.

Nicole Pieper and Quin Yuter had homers for Vernon Hills.

In the second game, Koshy had 2 hits, including another home run.

Grace Bradly and Ashlynn Coleman each had 2 hits for the Rams as well.

Winning pitcher Corinne Heidloff had 5 strikeouts and no walks over 6 1/3 innings.

For Vernon Hills, Quin Yuter and Tatiana Guletsky each had 2 hits and Delaney Bowen drove in 2 runs.

Stevenson 24, Wauconda 9: The two teams combined for 38 hits, 21 by Stevenson.

The Patriots poured it on in a 12-run fourth inning.

Gina Shanley led Stevenson with 4 hits and 3 RBI in 5 at-bats. Winning pitcher Ilyssa Muise had 6 strikeouts over five innings.

For Wauconda, Sydney Rogers, Julia Fohlmeister and Rhiannon Himmelmann each had 3 hits.
