Baseball: Hampshire outlasts Dundee-Crown in 12
Matthew Jachec singled and scored on an error in the bottom of the 12th inning as Hampshire's baseball team defeated Dundee-Crown 6-5 Friday in Fox Valley Conference action.
Jachec had 2 hits with a double and an RBI for the Whip-Purs (13-17) while Andrew Krajecki added 2 hits and an RBI, Nicholas Sladek 3 hits, Trevor Laffin 2 hits with a double and an RBI and Zachary Golden 2 hits.
Golden earned the win on the mound as well.
Nick Gregory had 2 hits for Dundee-Crown (6-23). Erik Hedmark added a double and an RBI and Zach Hahn drove in 2 runs.
CL Central 7, Jacobs 4: Bryce Vincent (3 hits, RBI), Cory Dennison (2 hits, RBI) and Spencer Foulks (2B) led Jacobs (15-10-1) in its FVC loss.
St. Charles North 10, Streamwood 0: Nick Skurka allowed just 2 hits with 7 strikeouts and no walks in 4 innings on the mound to lead the North Stars (22-2) to an Upstate Eight River win. Ryan Thiesse (2 RBI), Egon Hein (2 hits, RBI), Sean Nemetz (3 hits, 2 RBI) and Michael Gattuso (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI) led the SCN offense.
Aurora Christian 10, IMSA 5: Sam Tickel had 3 hits with a double and an RBI, Trey Madsen 2 hits with a double and Jake Kuntzendorf 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI for Aurora Christian (24-2) in its Northeastern Athletic Conference win. Zach Zavasnik went 5⅓ innings allowing 6 hits with 5 strikeouts and 2 walks for the win.
Illiana Christian 5, St. Edward 2: Mike Lopez had a double for the Green Wave (7-23) in their Metro Suburban crossover loss.
Burlington Central 5, Streator 4: At the LaSalle-Peru tournament, Andrew Griffin had 2 RBI and Nick Matijevic 2 hits for the Rockets (18-9). Braden Seyller picked up the win in relief of Bradley Dinges.
Harvest Christian 11, ACC 6: Brock Wilken had a double, a home run and 3 RBI for Harvest (21-6) in its nonconference win. Also adding to the Lions' offense were Dayne Frederick (2 RBI), Joey Pepper (2 hits, 2B, RBI), Gilbert Duran (2B, RBI) and Grant Young (2B, RBI). Zach Pawelek was the winning pitcher, going 4 innings and allowing 4 hits with 5 strikeouts and 2 walks. Hunter Darnell (3 hits), Chris Cartwright (3 hits, 2 doubles, 4 RBI) and Michael Rivas (2B) led Aurora Central (17-11).
Batavia 10, DeKalb 0: Jared Martin allowed 2 hits with 5 strikeouts and no walks and drove in 2 runs for Batavia (17-8) in a nonconference win. Carter Gette had a double and an RBI for the Bulldogs and Adam Bendoraitis added 2 hits.
