Repairs, resurfacing closing Atkinson Road bridge

The Atkinson Road bridge over the Tri-State Tollway near Green Oaks in Lake County will be closed for repairs and resurfacing starting Monday and is expected to reopen in July.

Motorists should use St. Mary's, Buckley and Waukegan roads as a detour route.

Up to 1,800 vehicles use the roadway daily. The bridge must be closed because it's too narrow to accommodate traffic during maintenance work, state transportation officials said. Work will include bridge deck and joint repairs, bridge deck overlay and concrete pier and abutment repairs.
