New Signal Improves Crossing For Cyclists at Ridge and Devon

The Village is excited to announce the installation of a modern radar detection system to allow bicyclists traveling north-south on Ridge Avenue to receive a green signal to cross Devon Ave.

This intersection is part of the Salt Creek Bicycle Trail, and the old loop detection system meant that bicyclists had to wait for a car to get a green light, which could be especially difficult on weekends when there isn't much traffic on Ridge or Mittel.

The Village worked with the Cook County Department of Highways and Transportation to install this new system.

To receive the green signal bicycles should stop on the bicycle pavement marking behind the stop bar. This improvement should make for safer travels for bicycles using the Salt Creek Trail.
