Softball: South Elgin, Geneva claim UEC wins

Sidney Strama tossed a 1-hitter with 8 strikeouts and 3 walks and added 2 hits and an RBI from the plate Thursday as South Elgin downed Streamwood 10-0 in Upstate Eight Conference softball action.

Adding to the offense for the Storm (13-10) were Casey Brennan (2B. HR, 4 RBI), McKenna Eicholz (2 hits, RBI), Sami Koss (2 hits) and Geneva Pollman (3B).

Geneva 14, Larkin 3: Emily Viebrock scattered 5 hits as Geneva (19-5, 12-3) won this UEC River game. Ali Dierks had a home run for the Vikings and Sam Keller added a double. Haley Bohne had a double and 2 RBI for Larkin (5-16, 3-11).

Jacobs 3, McHenry 1: Emily Pena had 3 hits and an RBI for Jacobs (13-10-1) in a Fox Valley Conference win. Delaney Garden picked up the win in the circle, going 4⅔ innings while allowing 5 hits and no earned runs. Kate Armstrong earned the save.

ACC 10, Wheaton Academy 0: Lizzie Albert (2B, RBI), Kaitlyn Carlson (2B, 3 RBI) and Jessica Kling (2 RBI) had 2 hits each for Aurora Central (13-13) in a Metro Suburban win. Ava Wilkins added a double for the Chargers. Dani Brown and Izzy Hernandez combined on a 3-hitter.

Rosary 13, St. Edward 1: Winning pitcher Brooke Cappararelli (5 IP, 3 hits, 9 Ks, 0 BBS) had 3 hits with a triple and 3 RBI to lead the Royals (6-5-1) to a nonconference win. Chloe Saltijeral (HR, 2 RBI), Mikayla Cassidy (2B), Roley McCue (3 RBI), Kallista Cappararelli (2 hits) and Xcolena Flores (2 hits, 2 RBI) also contributed. Lindsey Mauritzen had a double for St. Edward (10-11).

Kaneland 6, West Aurora 1: Hannah Theobald and Olivia Ortegel had 3 hits each for Kaneland in a nonconference win. Rose Roach allowed 3 hits in 5 innings for the win.

Westminster Christian 11, Willows 5: Drew Randazzo (3B, 2 RBI), Sophie Kovachevich (HR, 3 RBI), Kristen Mason (2B) and Rachel Schmitt (3B, 2 RBI) had 3 hits each for Westminster (4-10) in a nonconference win. Grace Schmitt added a double and 3 RBI.
