Baseball: Charpenter's 2 HRs propel St. Charles East to win
Charlie Charpenter had 2 home runs and 5 RBI and Clay Conn added 3 hits with a double, triple and 3 RBI Wednesday to lead the St. Charles East baseball team to an 11-4 Upstate Eight River win over Streamwood.
John Dellostritto (2 hits, 2B), Thomas Schroeder (2B) and Ryan Richa (2 hits, HR, 2 RBI) also contributed at the plate for the Saints (16-8-1).
Brett Brueske picked up the win on the mound.
Colin Caminitti had 2 hits with a double and 3 RBI for Streamwood. AJ Reyna added 3 hits with a double and Colin Bielinski had a double for the Sabres.
St. Charles North 10, Larkin 6: Ryan Thiese (HR, 3 RBI) and Nick DeMarco (2B) had 3 hits each as SCN (20-2) won this UEC River game. Justin Dunne (2 hits, HR, 4 RBI) and Sean Nemetz (2 hits, RBI) also produced for the North Stars. Lucas Heflen was the winning pitcher. Max Anderson had a double, homer and 4 RBI for Larkin (7-14) while Kobe Mounivong, Max Wiskirchen and Aaron Lazovick added 2 hits each.
West Aurora 9, Bartlett 7: Dustin Tomas (2 hits, 2B, RBI), Danny Marion (2B) and Ryan Tuescher (2B, RBI) led West Aurora (17-6) to this UEC Valley win. Joey Allen had 2 hits with a home run for Bartlett (8-14), Jacob Chowanec added 2 hits and 2 RBI and Sam Mallinas had 3 hits with a double.
Cary-Grove 9, Dundee-Crown 0: Alex Riehman threw a 5-hitter with 7 strikeouts and 1 walk and added 2 RBI at the plate to lead Cary-Grove (14-9-1) to a Fox Valley Conference win. Ryan Ignoffo (2 RBI), Matt Breig (2 hits, 2B, RBI) and Shane Layshock (3 hits, 2 RBI) led the offense for the Trojans. Nick Gregory had 3 of the 5 hits Dundee-Crown (5-21) managed.
Jacobs 10, Hampshire 5: Bryce Vincent had 3 hits with a double and an RBI for Jacobs (14-9-1) in its FVC win. Daniel Klein added a home run and 2 RBI for the Golden Eagles while Spencer Foulks had a homer, Liam Oreskevich 2 hits, Bryan Belo 2 RBI and winning pitcher Daniel Murray 2 RBI. Zachary Golden had 2 hits with a double and an RBI for Hampshire (11-17) and Nicholas Tenny added 2 hits with a double.
Huntley 10, CL Central 9: In the completion of a suspended game, Matt Rodriguez (2 hits, RBI), Jason Peters (2B, HR, 2 RBI), Kyle Maurer (2B, 3 RBI) and Hunter Rumachik (2B) led Huntley (21-5, 13-4) to the FVC win.
McHenry 7, CL South 5: Trevor Carlson homered while Noah Tyrell had 3 hits with a double and Harrison Hinz added 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI for Crystal Lake South in its FVC loss.
St. Edward 7, Westminster Christian 5: In nonconference action, winning pitcher Matthew Schulenburg had 2 hits and 3 RBI for St. Edward (7-21). Jack Olson added 2 doubles and Andrew Johnson had a double for the Green Wave. Nathen Martinez had 2 hits for Westminster (15-9) while Anthony Calabrese drove in 2 runs and Matthew Schulenburg and Ben Versluys each had a double.
Aurora Christian 9, IC Catholic 6: MJ Stavola (2B, RBI), Jake Kuntzendorf (3B, 3 RBI), Trey Madsen (2 hits), Clark Turek (2 hits, 2B) and Nick Ports (2 hits) led the Eagles (22-2) to this nonconference win.
