Elgin Public Works to host open house May 19

During National Public Works Week, stop by the Elgin Public Works' open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at the public services building, 1900 Holmes Road on Elgin's northwest side.

The free, family friendly event features a Touch-a-Truck, equipment rides, giveaways and free food.

Learn about the services provided by public works, including snow and ice control; street sweeping; fleet maintenance; traffic signal, streetlight and sign maintenance; parks maintenance; sewer maintenance; water main repairs; waste and recycling services; site development review; construction projects; and water service installation.
