Softball: Lake County roundup

Warren 6, Mundelein 3: Caitlyn Britton was the winning pitcher and helped her own cause at the plate.

Britton rolled up 9 strikeouts over six innings and also had 3 hits herself, including a home run.

Taylor Shaw also added a home run for the Blue Devils.

For Mundelein, Kira Buckner had 2 hits, including a double.

Prairie Ridge 8, Grant 5: Calista Warmowski and Sydney Goessele each had 2 hits, including a home run, for Grant.

Erin Bengston also added 2 hits for the Bulldogs.

Grayslake North 15, Vernon Hills 10: The two teams combined for 30 hits, 18 by Grayslake North and 12 by Vernon Hills.

Grayslake North junior Grace Brown broke her own single season home run record of 10 she set last year as a sophomore. She hit her 11th and 12th bombs of the year and finished 4-for-4 with 4 RBI.

Faith Standerski also finished 4-4 (BB) with 3 RBI and her second home run of the season.

Freshman Jessica Pozezinski (3 RBI, double), Alyssa Carr (2 RBI, double), and Scout Kram all had 2 hits.

Maddy Wais, Ashton Moore, Caitlin Barenbaum, and Gracie Moats all added singles.

The Knights move to 13-7 on the season.

Quin Yeter had 3 hits for Vernon Hills while teammate Delaney Bowen added 2 hits, both doubles.

Lake Zurich 10, Lake Forest 5: Megan Croke, Julia Zaucha, Abby Jokerst and Natalie Jokerst each had 2 hits for Lake Zurich.

Winning pitcher Maura Ginn had 5 strikeouts over five innings.
