Baseball: Grayslake Central gets to win No. 20

Visiting Grayslake Central picked up baseball win No. 20 of the season by handling Wauconda 8-2 on Monday.

Grayslake Central fell behind 1-0 and then promptly scored the next 8 runs in running their Northern Lake County Conference record to 10-1 and overall record to 20-2. Grayslake Central scored 3 runs in both the second and fourth innings.

Nic Presutti roped a pair of triples with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored in leading the Rams' 11-hit attack. Max Snowden added a double and 2 singles, Clay Stoffel an RBI double and Nate Twardock added a pair of singles.

Pitcher Eric Sturm picked up his fifth win on the season as he scattered 3 hits over 5⅔ innings to go with 4 strikeouts.

Carmel 11, Marian Central 2: Austin Ehren, Sean Lynch and Brandon Banker each had 2 hits to lead Carmel in the win.

Lynch and Banker also drove in 2 runs apiece.

Charley Dir was the winning pitcher as the Corsairs improved to 13-8 overall and 7-5 in East Suburban Catholic Conference play.

Lake Forest 4, Mundelein 1: Jeff Morton drove in Mundelein's only run.

Stevenson 10, Waukegan 2: Ryan McElhinny, Evan Kiah and Zach Taylor each had 2 hits for Stevenson.

Winning pitcher Matthew Mittelmark had 5 strikeouts and no walks over three innings.
