Indiana woman pleads guilty in 2015 death of mother

ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) - An Indiana woman accused of killing a baby's mother and then trying to pass off the child as her own has pleaded guilty in the case.

Geraldine R. Jones pleaded guilty Friday in Madison County to voluntary manslaughter in the April 2015 stabbing death of 23-year-old Samantha J. Fleming. Jones' attorney says Jones will be sentenced to 30 years in prison and 10 years of probation according to her plea agreement.

Prosecutors say Jones drove to Fleming's Anderson home and posed as a state child services worker who was there to drive Fleming and her child to a Gary court hearing. Prosecutors say Jones killed Fleming and tried to raise the baby as her own. Fleming's body was found in Jones' home in Gary.
