District 211 Alternative schools graduation ceremony is May 17
Township High School District 211 will hold its 26th annual commencement ceremony for the district's Alternative High School programs at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at Hoffman Estates High School, 1100 W. Higgins Road, in Hoffman Estates, in the school auditorium.
Graduates from the Class of 2018 at District 211 North Campus, Higgins Education Center, and Alternative High School will receive their diplomas during the ceremony. Family and friends are invited to attend.
Students who attend alternative programs complete all High School District 211 graduation requirements. District 211 North Campus and Higgins Education Center programs are offered during the day as an alternative to the mainstream day school, while the District 211 Alternative High School offers students an opportunity to continue their high school education in the evenings.
Students who attend the Alternative High School have severed their ties from a mainstream school system due to a variety of other life choices. Some students are adults, working full-time jobs during the day; therefore, the opportunity to continue their education in the evenings is ideal.
Having alternative choices for students may make the difference between dropping out or staying in school. Pursuing their high school diploma places students on the path toward future successes in life.
