Gas grill sparks St. Charles fire

A gas grill sparked a fire Monday morning that damaged a St. Charles house and deck, fire officials said.
A resident on the 500 block of Pin Oak Court called 911 about 9:06 a.m. to report a grill on fire near the house, according to a news release from the St. Charles Fire Department. Fire crews arrived minutes later to find the grill, deck and back wall of the house burning, with the flames moving into the attic.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control within 20 minutes, officials said. Four other fire departments assisted at the scene.
The resident was able to safely evacuate the house, authorities said. No injuries were reported.
The fire caused about $25,000 in damage to the residence and its contents.
