A Mundelein man has been accused of stealing an assault rifle from a Round Lake Park man.
On April 7, the victim told police his AR-15 assault rifle had been stolen during a personal weapons sale, according to a news release from the Round Lake Park Police Department.
Authorities identified 32-year-old Juan Renteria-Becerra of the 400 block of Prospect Avenue in Mundelein as a suspect, and they located him Sunday night after an investigation involving the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Lake County Gang Task Force, the release said.
Officials said Renteria-Becerra brought investigators to a home in Mundelein where the rifle was located.
He was arrested on charges of possession of a stolen firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon without a FOID card, along with a felony drug charge.
