Former Chicago Mayor Daley donates papers to library

CHICAGO (AP) - Former Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley is donating his papers to a library named after his father.

Daley has donated a large collection and artifacts to the Richard J. Daley Library at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

The items include scores of documents and photographs that help tell the story of his five terms in office. There's memorabilia from the 1996 Democratic Convention and a report about how Chicago accommodated the Batman movie franchise. There are letters and photographs - some autographed - signed by former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama a well as former Chicago Bulls coach Phil Jackson.

Also at the library is the desk Richard M. Daley sat behind during his 22 years in office and his father used before him when he was mayor.
