No consecutive no-hitters for Sean Manaea

HOUSTON (AP) - Oakland's Sean Manaea won't be pitching consecutive no-hitters.

Houston's Carlos Correa singled cleanly through the right side off the Athletics pitcher in the fourth inning on Friday night, ending Manaea's hitless streak at 14 innings.

A 26-year-old left-hander, Manaea pitched a no-hitter against Boston last Saturday.

The only pitcher to throw consecutive no-hitters was Cincinnati's Johnny Vander Meer against Brooklyn and the Boston Bees in June 1938.

Manaea started with three perfect innings against the Astros before George Springer reached on a throwing error by shortstop Marcus Semien starting the fourth. Springer tagged and advanced on Jose Altuve's flyout and scored on Springer's single - the first hit off Manaea since Seattle's Taylor Motter hit a one-out solo homer in the fifth inning on April 15.

Manaea's scoreless streak was the longest for the A's since the franchise moved to Oakland, topping Blue Moon Odom's 13 innings on June 1 and 7, 1968.
