Softball: Dundee-Crown stuns Huntley

Cady English hit a 2-out, 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning Friday as Dundee-Crown's softball team upset Fox Valley Conference leader Huntley 4-2.

Huntley then loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh against D-C senior ace Sydney Ruggles but the Loyola signee got her last and 10th strikeout of the game to seal the win for the Chargers (9-8, 5-2).

Ruggles allowed Huntley (14-4, 4-1) just 4 hits in the game.

Claire Weeks added 2 hits with a double for D-C.

Grace Kutz had 2 hits with a home run and 2 RBI for the Red Raiders and Autumn Kasal added a double. Bri Bower took the loss in relief of Tiffany Giese.

Jacobs 3, CL Central 2: Kerri Healy's single with one out in the seventh inning scored Hannah Slocum with the winning run for Jacobs (8-5, 5-2) in its FVC win. Katie Armstrong had 2 hits and 2 RBI for the Golden Eagles and Delany Garden added a double. Garden was the winning pitcher, allowing 3 hits with 4 strikeouts and no walks in 6 innings.

Batavia 14, St. Charles North 9: Jaelen Lisberg (2 doubles, 3B) and winning pitcher Noelle Chaney (2B) each had 4 hits and 4 RBI to lead the Bulldogs (10-7, 7-2) to an Upstate Eight River win. Adding to the Batavia offense were Kaylan Waldron (HR, 2 RBI), Cassidy Carby (2B), Hanna Mackowiak (2 hits), Allison Bahlmann (2 hits, HR, 2 RBI) and Peyton Sachse (2 hits, 3B, 2 RBI). Grace Sobieski (3 hits, 3B), Jessica Wilson (2B, RBI) and Olivia Oborne (2B, RBI) led SCN (7-6, 4-3). Jillian Waslawski was the losing pitcher.

West Aurora 23, East Aurora 7: Shai Erdrich (3 RBI), Amanda Lasky (HR, 2B, 3B, 3 RBI) and Aislinn Strusz (2B, 3 RBI) each had 3 hits for West Aurora (4-7, 4-3) in its UEC Valley win. Also contributing for the Blackhawks were Janae Holloway (2 hits, grand slam HR), Kennedy Zies (2 doubles, 4 RBI), Eternity Gonzales (2B, RBI), Sophia Delgado (2 hits, 2B) and Rose Marmelejo (2 hits, 3B, 2 RBI).

South Elgin 23, Larkin 4: Casey Brennan had 5 hits with a grand slam home run, 2 doubles and 5 RBI while McKenna Eicholz added 3 hits with 2 home runs and 7 RBI to lead South Elgin (9-7, 8-2) to a UEC win. Also producing for the Storm were Geneva Pollman (3 hits, RBI), Sophia Salazar (2 hits), Julianna Battaglia (4 hits, 2 HRs, 3 RBI), Sami Koss (3 hits, RBI), Daisy Fuentes (3 hits, 2B), Kaylie Humes (2 hits), Sam Dietz (grand slam HR) and winning pitcher Allyssa Kendall (2 hits, RBI), Kathy Garcia had 2 hits for Larkin (3-14, 2-6) and Liz Bowman an RBI.

St. Edward 12, Walther Christian 1: Jessy Kramp threw a five-inning no-hitter and hit 2 home runs with 5 RBI to lead the Green Wave (6-7, 4-4) to a Metro Suburban win. Lindsey Mauritzen (2B), Sarah Mendoza (2 hits, HR, 4 RBI), Mallory Rejman (2 hits, 2B), Chloe Davies (HR) and Katy Davidson (2 hits) also contributed for St. Edward. Kramp struck out 8 and walked 5.

Burlington Central 13, Streamwood 2: Julia Barnes hit 3 home runs, a double and had 5 RBI and threw a 2-hitter with no earned runs, 3 strikeouts and 2 walks to lead the Rockets (11-4) to a nonconference win. Also contributing for BC were Danielle Yurgil (2 hits, 3B, RBI), Lindsay Jamrozek (2 RBI), Sarah Schmitt (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Hanaa Nkhikhssi (2B, RBI) and Sarah Kinney (2B, RBI). Gabby Cardinale had 2 RBI for the Sabres (5-10).
