Lake Zurich High students ready to perform 'Pippen'

The Lake Zurich High School theater program is wrapping up its season with this weekend's performances of the spring musical "Pippin."

The production, directed by Tom Skobel, features more 100 students in the cast, as well as on the crew and in costuming. Students held a dress rehearsal Tuesday.

The story features the son of King Charlemagne, a prince named Pippin, who is searching for the meaning of life.

Pippin eventually becomes king and discovers a new set of life dilemmas. He must ultimately decide between a life of magic and adventure versus a simple, peaceful and purposeful life.

"The story of Pippin is close to my heart as a director because it was the first show I acted in," Skobel said in a news release. "This show with the current students is exciting to see because their passion for theater is evident in a show where mine began."

Performances are Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Lake Zurich High School Performing Arts Center, 300 Church St., Lake Zurich.

Ticket prices are $10 for students and seniors; $12 for adults. Tickets may be purchased in advance at www.lz95.org/pac and at the door.
