Softball: Hard-hitting Antioch handles Wauconda
Piper Foote went 3-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI, Kaylee Schreiner was 3-for-4, and visiting Antioch stayed hot by topping Wauconda's softball team 12-0 on Monday in Northern Lake County Conference action.
Abby Pyburn (2-for-3, 2 RBI, squeeze bunt) and Ashlyn Sundell (2-for-4, RBI) also had multiple hits, and Kayla Burkhart added a double for Antioch (9-5, 3-1), which won for the ninth time in its last 10 games.
Winning pitcher Jerianne Bonaguidi pitched 4 innings of 1-hit ball, striking out seven with no walks.
Julie Fohlmeister (1-for-2) had the lone hit for Wauconda.
Libertyville 7, Zion Benton 6: Maggie Evers and Sarah Hoyer each had a home run and 2 RBI to help Libertyville move to 10-4 on the season.
Hannah Hiscok and Emily Hilldale added 2 hits apiece, including a double each while winning pitcher Amanda Page had 3 strikeouts over seven innings.
Lake Zurich 9, Mundelein 5: Steph Keefe and Liz Chialdikas each had a home run to lead Lake Zurich.
Keefe was also the winning pitcher, tossing 8 strikeouts over seven innings.
Julia Zaucha and Maura Ginn added 2 hits apiece for the Bears.
For Mundelein Kaitlyn Griffin had 2 hits, including a home run. She also drove in 3 runs.
Warren 12, Stevenson 1: Warren, which pounded out 16 hits, was up 10-1 after three innings.
Becca Geiyer had 3 hits, including a double, and also drove in 4 runs.
Carissa Topolinski smacked a home run for Warren.
Claire Swedberg, Caitlyn Briton, Kayla Nommensen and Kelly Beck each added 2 hits for the Blue Devils.
