Two stabbed in Wheeling early Sunday

Wheeling police are investigating the stabbings of two males at about 2:15 a.m. Sunday on the 500 block of East Merle Lane.

One victim remained in critical condition Sunday evening while the other was stable, Wheeling Deputy Police Chief Todd Wolff said.

"We believe this was an isolated incident and there is no further risk to the community," he added.

Wheeling paramedics took both victims to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, fire department officials said.

The multijurisdictional Major Case Assistance Team is working with Wheeling police on the ongoing investigation, Wolff said.
