Track and field: Palatine's Distance Night figures to be fun, fast

They're certainly looking forward to Distance Night in Palatine, hosted by Palatine High School.

As always, the meet has a strong connection to the immediate community, beginning with an 800-meter race for sixth grand-and-unders at 6:30 p.m., followed by a 1,600-meter race for seventh- and eighth-graders at 6:40 p.m., and then a 1,600-meter open race for adults at 6:50 p.m.

The high school meet is slated to start at 7 p.m. and features an extremely talented field which includes four cross country state champions from Wisconsin last fall.
