Aurora man charged with home invasion in North Aurora

A 34-year-old Aurora man is behind bars Tuesday after he burglarized a home and fled pursuing officers, North Aurora Police said Tuesday.

Quincy L. Ivory, of the 500 block of Rosewood Ave., has been charged with felony home invasion, felony residential burglary, misdemeanor damage to property and misdemeanor domestic battery related to the burglary. He is also charged with three counts of aggravated fleeing a police officer related to the ensuing chase, according to a news release issued by the North Aurora Police Department.

Ivory forcibly entered a home on the 200 block of Linn Court early Wednesday morning, struck the victim and stole a cellphone and $150 cash before fleeing, police said. Police later learned that Ivory knew the victim.

Police were dispatched while the burglary was still in progress at around 5:48 a.m. Wednesday. A first responder saw Ivory drive away from the scene, and officers pursued him for a time; however, because Ivory was driving very fast and disobeying traffic signals, the officers terminated their pursuit for the safety of the other drivers on the road, officials said.

Police went to the Kane County state's attorney's office and an arrest warrant for Ivory was issued.

A patrol officer found Ivory's vehicle around 12:20 p.m. Tuesday and determined he was inside a home nearby; Ivory initially refused to leave, but after speaking with a detective, he opened the door and was arrested, according to the news release.

Ivory will be in bond court Wednesday morning.
