Join Geneva-area Allstate agency owners in virtual food drive

Geneva-area Allstate agency owners are collecting much-needed donations through a virtual food drive to benefit the Northern Illinois Food Bank. The virtual food drive kicked off during National Volunteer Week (April 15-21) and runs through April 30.

The donations will enable the Feeding America food bank member to support local families in need and quickly respond in the event of a natural disaster which can leave community members without shelter, power and access to safe food and water.

Allstate agency owners will also lend their time to the Northern Illinois Food Bank with a hands-on volunteer project. Their efforts will help their communities fight the everyday disaster of hunger.

Every $1 donated during the virtual food drive will help to provide 10 meals through the Feeding America network of food banks. All funds raised will be directed toward general operating funds for Feeding America member food banks. One dollar helps provide at least 10 meals secured by Feeding America on behalf of local member food banks (for fiscal year 2018.) This meal calculation is updated annually based on fiscal year financial and operational results.

To donate, community members can visit www.feedingamerica.org/Allstate.

Through their volunteer efforts, Allstate agency owners can earn an Allstate Foundation Helping Hands grant for the Northern Illinois Food Bank. The grant will help strengthen the Feeding America member's ability to deliver critical emergency relief to families in need. Each year, thousands of organizations receive Allstate Foundation Helping Hands grants secured by Allstate volunteers on behalf of the nonprofits where they volunteer. The grants empower organizations addressing youth empowerment, domestic violence, disaster preparedness, hunger and other causes.

Since 2011, Allstate and The Allstate Foundation have contributed more than $2.5 million to Feeding America to support its disaster preparedness and relief programs. Visit www.allstatefoundation.org.
