Baseball: Maifield's walk-off homer lifts Grant past Antioch

Chase Maifield hit a walk-off, 3-run homer in the bottom of the sixth, lifting Grant's baseball team to an 8-6 win over Antioch in Northern Lake County Conference action Friday.

The game was called due to drakness after the home run by Maifield, who finished 3-for-3 with 5 RBI. Henry Kusiak was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for the Bulldogs, who completed a three-game sweep of the series.

Mikal Ashley had a double for Grant (11-2, 4-0).

For Antioch, both Patrick Day and Sean Weiser were 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Grayslake Central 26, Round Lake 3: Kevin O'Brien went 3-for-3 with a triple and 6 RBI, as the Rams stayed undefeated with the Northern Lake County Conference win in five innings.

Eric Sturm was also 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the winners, who pounded out 21 hits. Grayslake Central (10-0, 3-0) got 2-for-2 efforts from Max Snowden (double, 2 RBI) and Clayton Bloemke, and Alex Berry was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI.
