Elgin woman who died in crash identified

A woman who died after her car struck a utility pole was identified as Kelly Pynakker of Elgin by the Kane County coroner's office.

Elgin police said the 47-year-old woman was driving west on McDonald Road in Elgin about 6:40 p.m. Thursday when she lost control and struck the pole. She was taken to Presence St. Joseph's Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The coroner's office released her identity Friday afternoon.
