Softball: Chialdikas leads Lake Zurich's romp against Buffalo Grove

Elizabeth Chialdikas went 5-for-5 with a 3-run homer, double and 5 RBI, and Lake Zurich's softball team defeated Buffalo Grove 12-4 in a nonconference game Thursday.

Megan Croke (2 runs), Julia Zauch (2 runs, 2 RBI), Haley Gajewski and Maura Ginn each had a pair of hits for the Bears.

Winning pitcher Stephanie Keefe hit a solo home run and allowed 3 earned runs in a complete-game effort.

Grayslake North 17, Wauconda 5: Alyssa Carr with 4-for-5 with her first varsity homer, a double and 7 RBI, and the visiting Knights (4-1, 2-0) cruised to their second Northern Lake County Conference victory.

Grace Brown was also 4-for-5, doubling three times and driving in 2 runs. The Knights' 18-hits attack also included the efforts of Jess Pozezinski (3-for-5, 2 stolen bases), Ashton Moore (2-for-5, 2 RBI, stolen base) and Jelly Diaz (2-for-4, 2 RBI). Emily Mack picked up her third win of the season, scattering 8 hits to go along with 7 strikeouts.

For Wauconda, Kelly Weller was 3-for-4), and Kayla Serio went 2-for-3 with a walk. Angelica Cho (2 RBI, walk) and Jackie Johnson (RBI) both doubled, while Julia Fohlmeister singled.

Antioch 8, Round Lake 1: Megan Lawrence was 2-for-3 with a double, stolen base and an RBI for the host Sequoits, who scored 5 runs in the first inning of the Northern Lake County Conference game.

Avery Malicki hit a 2-run homer for Antioch, which won for the fourth time in its last five games. Piper Foote (RBI, 2 walks) and Kaylee Schreiner (RBI, 2 walks, 2 stolen bases) both doubled.

Jerianne Bonaguidi went the distance in the circle, striking out eight and allowing 5 hits.

Brianna Negrete McGinley homered and doubled for Round Lake. The Panthers' Emily Etherington had a double.

Grant 12, North Chicago 0: Erin Bengston (homer) and Ivy Clark (double, 3 RBI) were both 2-for-2 for the Bulldogs in the Northern Lake County Conference game.

Sarah Gallivan and Megan Mitchell also doubled, and winning pitcher Juliana Reynolds allowed 1 hit in a 4-inning complete game.

Warren 2, Palatine 1: Caitlyn Britton hit a solo homer and earned the win, as the Blue Devils captured the nonconference game.

The Blue Devils got doubles from Kayla Hopkins and Ashlyn Kitter.
