Aurora teen faces felony gun charges

A 17-year old boy from Aurora was charged with two felony gun offenses after police said they found him in possession of a handgun April 8.

Police said they responded about 2:15 a.m. to complaints of loud music on the 1000 block of North Pleasure Court when they came upon an illegally parked car that smelled of cannabis. Inside, they said, they found three teens ages 16, 17 and 18 and asked them to exit the car. Police then found a .25-caliber handgun under the seat where the 17-year-old was sitting, officials said.

The boy was charged with two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, a felony that can carry a sentence of three to seven years in prison.
