Boys water polo: Barrington gets key win at Conant
Barrington's boys water polo team inched closer to a repeat appearance in the Mid-Suburban League championship game by topping host Conant 13-9 on Wednesday.
The Broncos improved to 12-1 overall and 7-0 in the division and can clinch a spot in the MSL title matchup with one more win in its last three tries.
The loss leaves Conant (10-5, 5-2) two games off the West lead.
Buffalo Grove 19, Elk Grove 11: Carlos Salgado led the host Bison with 4 goals and Kevin Carr and Michael Goubine had 3 apiece as Buffalo Grove rolled in MSL East acton.
Buffalo Grove would clinch a repeat MSL title game appearance with another win in its last three games.
Senior Nick Rosenorn had another big game for Elk Grove (5-11, 3-4), leading all scorers with 6 goals.
Schaumburg 10, Hoffman Estates 2: Michael Burke had a team-best 3 goals to help the host Saxons improve to 6-11 overall and 3-4 in the MSL West.
Hersey 19, Rolling Meadows 3: The Huskies' seniors scored in bunches as Nick Koutris led the way with 5 goals in MSL East play.
Senior RJ Quinn orchestrated much of that offense, finishing with a program record for assists in a game with 7.
Hersey (10-3, 5-2) remains in second place in the MSL East.
Senior Josh Dellorto scored twice for Meadows (0-9, 0-6).
Fremd 10, Palatine 9: The host Vikings won a thriller, as sophomore Sean Warner scored what turned out to be the decisive goal with 2:01 left.
Glenn Ingebritson's third goal of the game got the Pirates within 1 with 1:44 remaining, but Fremd was ably to deny any further scoring.
Warner, James Steininger, Russell Beaupre, Sebastian Lekas and Derek Warnstedt each finished with 2 goals for Fremd (6-7, 4-3).
Palatine (4-9, 2-5) also got 3 goals from Jerome Gabriel, 2 from Sean O'Brien and 1 from Zach Gray, along with 10 goalie saves from Connor Wheatley.
